A whole army of former Serie A superstars are enroute to becoming grade A managers at the highest level. The Italian football federation, FIGC, released an official statement regarding the completion of the UEFA A license course taken up by thirteen former players.
The to-be managers began the license course in December 2021 and completed it a week ago, thus allowing them to take up coaching roles upto Italy’s third division, Serie C. The 210 hours of the course modules were held almost completely online due to the pandemic.
The official statement by FIGC reads: “After following the 210 hours of training of the educational program, the students took the final exams of the course at Coverciano last Thursday. In the light of the vote obtained, the best of the course were Daniele De Rossi and Alessandro del Piero. Also noteworthy is the final test by Ignazio Abate.”
The three aforementioned former players are said to have topped the course with exemplary performance.
