Three Players Inter Should Agree Pre-Contract Deals With

There’s little over a month until the European transfer window opens on January 4th and as any other season, expect plenty of movement at Inter.

Given the belated season and the extended summer transfer window, it’s seemingly made the run-up to this Christmas packed with transfer rumors and negotiations.

Come January, not only will teams be allowed to use the transfer market again, but they’ll also be able to start readying pre-contract deals with players in the final year of their contracts.

Here we take a look at three Premier League players Inter should look at negotiating pre-contract deals with in the New Year:

Sergio Aguero

The Manchester City forward is starting to concern his club – he’s in the last year of his deal and is seemingly uninterested in renewing.

This month has seen rumors of City readying a “bumper” deal for Gabriel Jesus and that could signal Aguero’s departure at the end of the season.

Antonio Conte is already being linked with the 32-year-old and with them being the only horse in the race as it stands, a January agreement looks highly-likely.

Having stated his desire to return to Argentina in the past, Aguero might prefer a short-term deal in Italy, that’s if he fancies Inter.

Georginio Wijnaldum

Another Premier League name who seems to be making headlines is Wijnaldum. The Dutchman is at the center of a contract debate and after some back-and-forth, he looks set to leave for free next summer.

Barcelona are the team being heavily linked. Ronald Koeman likes the Dutchman and having spoken out on the links, Wijnaldum didn’t rule out a move to the Nou Camp.

But only this week, Inter have reportedly made contact with Liverpool over Wijnaldum. Conte fancies the 30-year-old and it would prove a keen addition to their midfield selection.

He’s been an engine for Liverpool and has some important goals to his name, with the Serie A looking like a good fit for his style of play.

Juan Mata

Formerly of Valencia, Chelsea and now Manchester United, Mata has won most every trophy on the club and global stage.

His last few years at Old Trafford though have been mixed with injury and changes in management, and it’s seen the Spaniard slip under the radar a bit.

His four Premier League appearances this season signal that United aren’t keen on an extension and so he looks set for a summer departure.

The 32-year-old reportedly rejected a “big money” move to Saudi Arabia earlier this season and that could mean he’s keen on remaining in Europe.

Having come close to signing Mata back in 2018, Inter could well see him as a short-term replacement for the likely departing Christian Eriksen.
