A trio of Napoli linchpins, Victor Osimhen, Dries Mertens and Piotr Zielinski, discussed their future from their respective national team camps, with different hints about what is going to happen this summer.
The Nigerian striker cast doubts about his permanence (via Corriere dello Sport).
“I know that there are a lot of rumors linking me to La Liga or Premier League, but this is not the right time to address them. I always go on the pitch to give my best, whether with the Super Eagles or my club. Everything can happen, and I do not know for sure yet. I just want to go on vacation, unplug and recharge the batteries. Then we will think about the rest.”
The Belgian attacker de facto announced his departure (via SportMediaset).
“I want to make the right choice and find a nice club. I am serene, but I am mulling over it a lot. It is weird that the team waited this long to decide about the extension. I have not heard anything about it yet, and I thought I would stay. I hope to know more about it soon.”
Unlike Osimhen and Mertens, Zielinski dismissed the buzz tying him to a move away from Napoli (via Sky).
“I do not understand where this chatter comes from, and I do not believe I will leave this summer. I have an important contract, which lasts for two more years. Even though they say otherwise, I am fine where I am. I have never said I wished to depart. It is true that I had a difficult moment in the second half of last season. However, this does not mean that I will end my stay. I want to keep playing with the Partenopei, which are a great team.”
