A three-way race is reportedly brewing for Brescia-born midfielder Andrea Colpani, who has begun the 2023/24 season on a high note with Monza. The Atalanta academy graduate has become one of the first names on Raffaele Palladino’s team sheet this season, so far banging four goals in eight league appearances as a versatile midfielder.
As per Sportmediaset (via FCInterNews), Inter have accelerated their viewings of Colpani via their scouts. The Nerazzurri are searching for young midfielders who can score goals to take up responsibilities in midfield, and Colpani is one of their main targets. However, they also face competition from two of their biggest rivals – Milan and Juventus.
The Rossoneri are evaluating the onboardings of players trained in Italian youth systems to fill the homegrown quota within the squad. Colpani has already been linked to Milan, whereas the Bianconeri are expected to make transfer market moves after the shambolic issues surrounding Paul Pogba. Perhaps an exchange deal can be theorized including Fabio Miretti, who was eyed by the Biancorossi last window.
Colpani signed with Monza initially on a loan deal before making it permanent last year. He didn’t star regularly under Raffaele Palladino then but has so far punched above his weight, drawing the attention of top Serie A guns.
Our Take on Colpani
It would make sense for Colpani to spend another full season at Monza and then make a switch to a bigger club. The sample size of his credibility is rather limited for any of the three suitors to jump onto the transfer bandwagon, but it won’t be surprising to see an assault come January.
