Tijjani Reijnders Set for Milan Medical

Milan are about to complete another summer soap opera as they prepare to announce the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AZ Alkmaar. According to Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo, the Dutch midfielder will undergo medical checks on Tuesday.

After back-to-back failed attempts to strike a deal with AZ, the third time was the charm for Milan. The Rossoneri found a decisive breakthrough in talks on Saturday, finally compelling the Eredivisie outfit to come around. Reijnders’ current employers have accepted a €20 million plus add-ons bid for the 24-year-old.

In yesterday’s interview with the local media, AZ sporting director Max Huiberts confirmed ‘positive’ discussions with Milan. All pieces seem to have fallen into place to accommodate Reijnders’ move to Serie A. If the Dutchman’s medicals go according to plan, he should sign a five-year contract at San Siro worth €1.7m per season.

Reijnders has been nothing short of impressive for AZ over the past few years. He has racked up over 120 appearances for the club, tallying 13 goals and 15 assists. Last season was particularly successful for the versatile midfielder as he clocked 19 goal contributions across 54 matches in all competitions.

His versatility and technical skills should upgrade Pioli’s options in the middle. Milan can still rely on Ismael Bennacer to deliver the goods. But it’ll be up to new boys to carry the weight at the start of next season. After Ruben Loftus-Cheek, it’s time for Reijnders to join the group at Milanello.
