The Top 5 Goals of Serie A Round 23 – From Barrow to Mancosu

It’s been an interesting 23rd round in the Serie A with the weekend producing some surprising results. Verona managed to snatch up all three points against former leaders Juventus, who have now been overtaken by Antonio Conte’s Inter. The Nerazzurri came out victorious in the Derby Della Madonnina after an absolute thriller. With none of the matches ending in a goalless draw, the selection for our Top 5 goals was plentiful, so without further ado, these are our pick of the bunch:

5. Musa Barrow vs Roma (Roma-Bologna 2-3)

The “Black Panther” had one hell of a night scoring two and assisting one as Bologna upset Roma winning 3-2. We could have easily chosen either one of his goals but we’re going for his second strike as the first had a slight deflection. Barrow picked up the ball at the half-line and sprinted on the left side dribbling past one of Roma’s defenders just before curling it in at the far post. Check it out at minute 2:00 in the below video:

4. Gastón Ramirez vs Torino (Torino-Sampdoria 1-3)

This is our first freekick of the top and it came in the 70th minute of Sampdoria’s game against Torino (Video min 2:00). It marked Samp’s comeback tying the score at 1-1 after Torino have been leading for 15 minutes. Just like Musa Barrow, Gastón Ramirez managed a brace in this match with veteran Quagliarella putting the last nail in Torino’s coffin from a 79th-minute penalty.

3. Marcelo Brozovic vs Milan (Inter-Milan 4-2)

Another goal that marks a comeback, this time an even greater one. After leading 2-0 at half-break it seemed like Milan forgot to show up from the locker room in the second half. This crazy edition of the Derby Della Madonnina finished 4-2 for Inter after an enthusiastic second-half display from Antonio Conte’s men. And it all started with this thunderbolt from Marcelo Brozovic (Video min 1:40)

2. José Callejon vs Lecce (Napoli-Lecce 2-3)

The second and first spots come from the same match, Lecce’s surprising win over Napoli. With the Partenopei coming off a great run of results, the game against Lecce should have been a walk in the park for Gennaro Gattuso’s men – but the outcome wasn’t quite so. This beautifully executed bicycle-kick from José Callejon proved to be too little, too late, but still deserves a spot in our top 5. (Video min 3:23)

1. Marco Mancosu vs Napoli (Napoli-Lecce 2-3)

WHAT A STRIKE! As mentioned before, there are two freekicks in this Top 5 and as beautifully placed as Gastón Ramirez’s shot was, Marco Mancosu’s absolute rocket just had to take our first spot. There’s absolutely nothing poor David Ospina could have done to keep out this shot, just take a look for yourself (Video min 3:00)
