Serie A is always thrilling. Over the past few seasons, it has been one the most closely contested football leagues in Europe, featuring four different winners in the last five seasons.
On top of that, Italian clubs have also started to reap successes in Europe, as confirmed by Roma winning the Conference League two years ago, and Atalanta grabbing the Europa League trophy this pas season.
As the new season kicks in, Serie A will draw attention from countries around the world, especially those with their own contingent, such as Canada and Tajon Trevor Buchanan, who plays for Inter. Sports Interaction Canada offers a number of markets and makes it clear that there are people watching from across the ocean.
We’re largely disregarding the first few results of the season as there is really only so much you can read into this. Let’s have a look at whether Inter will continue to be at the top or if anyone is knocking on their door.
Inter
It is very hard to look beyond Simone Inzaghi’s Inter when it comes to predicting the possible Scudetto winners. This summer, Inter have managed to hold onto their key players, including Nicolò Barella, who recently signed a new deal with the club.
This has proven to be absolutely essential to the team, so keeping him has been a coup in some ways for the reigning champs. Barella was linked with Manchester City and the chance to play under Pep is a big draw. Along with Barella, the goalscoring star Lautaro Martinez has stuck around and will be hoping to fire Inter to another title.
Atalanta
Atalanta started the season like they want to entertain us again with a thriller against Fiorentina, and there will be no one complaining about their goalscoring. Having won the Europa League last season thanks to Ademola Lookman’s immense display, they will be eager to ramp up their performance to try to challenge for the title this season, though it will be an uphill battle.
Juventus
You simply can’t leave Juventus out of a list like this as they always have a chance. This isn’t the best Juventus team we’ve ever seen, but Thiago Motta’s debut on the Bianconeri‘s bench has looked promising so far. He seems to be right person to help Juve’s many young players to step up and potentially mount a challenge for the title.
Milan
Milan is another team that doesn’t feel as strong as it has at times, but they shouldn’t be underestimated, especially if Rafael Leao and Tammy Abraham can find their top form and connect to deliver more goals this campaign. The Rossoneri were the runner-up last season in the end, and nobody could write them off when it comes to 2024/25.
Conclusion
The start of the season has already taken place and it is hard to ignore the Udinese and Torino start, but it is unlikely they will keep up the pace. Roma and Bologna, recently involved in European competitions, have both started in a way that could cost them at the end of the season.
Whatever happens this year, it is sure to be another Serie A season with people watching from all over the world.
