Torino Defender Praises ‘Champion’ Bremer After 4-4 Atalanta Thriller

Atalanta and Torino clashed against each other in a thrilling 4-4 draw at the Gewiss Stadium as both teams played catch-up from the very first minute and eventually ended sharing spoils.

Despite Torino’s mammoth effort to hold out a two-goal lead at 4-2, they could do little to keep La Dea striker Luis Muriel at bay as he helped his team with a goal and assist in the final 12 minutes.

Young Torino stopper David Zima, who handed Muriel his brace after giving a penalty for Atalanta’s fourth, had words of praise for a certain teammate of his who is currently being targeted by some of the biggest names in world football. Despite conceding two goals in the final minutes, Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer played a huge role in keeping things level at the back.

Speaking of Bremer, 21-year-old Zima heaped praise on his defensive compatriot in his post-match press conference on the Torino Channel.

“I’m getting along well with everyone, Praet has helped me a lot and Bremer is a champion, I’m grateful to be able to play with him,” he said (via FC InterNews).

He then went on to mention that his team ‘deserved’ to win – an arguable matter given the fact that Atalanta fought until the end, getting the better of the Granata at the death.

Zima said: “It was a tough match but we deserved to win.”

The result proved take a huge toll on Atalanta’s faint European hopes despite them clinching a hard-earned point in the end. 11th-placed Torino on the other hand are still seeking a first top-half finish in three campaigns – an achievable result after their fifth unbeaten trip in six away matches.
