Torino Head Reiterates that Buongiorno Isn’t for Sale

Torino president Urbano Cairo has been forced to state publicly that Alessandro Buongiorno wouldn’t leave in January again, as the links to Milan keep lingering. Bayern Munich are reportedly examining the defender as well. He spoke to Tuttosport (via Sky).

“I said it last week after the League’s assembly and must repeat it: he’s not for sale. In August, when he relayed his intention to stay with us instead of going to Atalanta, I told him that he was and would continue to be very important to us. I wish to confirm that with even more resoluteness now.”

Torino have plenty of leverage because Buongiorno is tied to them long-term.

“We renewed his contract till 2028. He’ll stay with us as he wishes too.”

Cairo also weighed in on the future of Milan Juric, whose deal is instead up at the end of the season.

“We’ll meet in February or May, and we’ll see what his intentions are. I esteem him a lot. We’re happy with this first half of the season. Not only for the continuity. We’ll obviously listen to his will. We’d weigh how to proceed only if there really weren’t the conditions to continue together. For now, we must focus on Serie A.”

Our Take on Buongiorno

Among the minnows’ pillars, nobody is for sale until a team comes in with a stack of cash. The Granata have done exceptional pieces of business with their recent high-profile deals, primarily Gleison Bremer. They should resist in January and cash in even more in the summer.
