Torino Intensify Talks to Sign Former Inter Defender

Perennial Serie A strugglers Torino are determined to sign Union Berlin left-back Robin Gosens after parting ways with former captain Ricardo Rodriguez. According to TMW, Granata sporting director Davide Vagnati launched the opening offer worth €5 million plus €1m in add-ons for the ex-Inter flop, but the Germans deemed it insufficient.
Per the same report, Union Berlin would sanction Gosens’ return to Serie A only if they receive a bid worth upward of €10m. On top of that, the Bundesliga club would only consider a permanent deal, ruling out the possibility of negotiating a loan switch with an option to buy. Therefore, Torino must increase their initial proposal to lure Gosens back to Italy.
Despite selling star defender Alessandro Buongiorno to Napoli for almost €40m, Torino have been quiet in the incoming front. Barring Che Adams’ arrival from Southampton on a free transfer, new Granata manager Paolo Vanoli has yet to reinforce his squad with proper signings. The clock’s ticking for Torino to replace Buongiorno and Rodriguez.
Both players were crucial to Ivan Juric’s set-up last term. Though Gosens struggled toward the end of his previous Serie A stint, he’d be a decent replacement for the Swiss defender. Torino see the 30-year-old as an upgrade to their current roster but must find common ground with Union Berlin.
Goseens is reportedly keen to join Torino. The player’s desire could help the Italian side drive the price down, but they’ll likely have to present an improved bid anyway.
