Torino Open Extension Talks with Lazio Target Samuele Ricci

Aware of Lazio’s genuine interest in Samuele Ricci, Torino have reportedly accelerated extension talks with the midfielder’s camp. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Ivan Juric’s men are willing to increase the youngster’s salary to convince him to pledge his long-term future to Turin.

Ricci’s current contract at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino runs out in 2026. While it gives Granata plenty of time to work on a new deal, they are eager to wrap things up on short notice. In order to persuade the Empoli youth academy graduate to commit his future to Turin, they are ready to hand him a €1.5 million per season contract.

Torino would ideally outstretch Ricci’s stay until 2028, but they are open to settling for a one-year extension. He joined the club on an initial loan from Empoli in January 2022 before earning a permanent move the following summer. Granata shelled out €8.5m to get the deal over the line only a year ago.

Yet, Lazio made a valid attempt to take Ricci away from Torino in the summer. After losing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Al-Hilal, they pressured Juric’s team to sanction the 22-year-old’s move to the capital, but to no avail. Given his significance to the Croatian’s setup, Urbano Cairo never considered letting him leave.

To avoid any potential controversies in the upcoming transfer windows, Torino would like to tie Ricci down to a new contract in the coming months. Since the player has never shown the ambition to leave, negotiations should go through smoothly.
