Torino Try Hindering Sassuolo Efforts to Replace Napoli-Bound Raspadori

Napoli are increasingly confident of striking a deal for Sassuolo starlet Giacomo Raspadori after striking a verbal agreement with the 22-year-old, despite the presence of Juventus in the race. The Neroverdi have all but given up trying to renew the youngster’s stay in Emilia-Romagna. They are now focused on bolstering their ranks with his replacement, Armand Laurienté, from Ligue 1 outfit Lorient.

The French forward is also being pursued by Torino, according to Tuttosport, but it is Sassuolo who are in pole position to grab his signature after advanced talks over the past weekend. Seeing the Neroverdi’s advances, the Granata are said to have mellowed down their interest by focusing on other targets.

Sassuolo scouted Laurienté last season when Lorient narrowly escaped relegation battle to stay afloat in the French top-tier. The French minnows want at least €10M for their attacker. The 23-year-old has two more years on his contract.

An initial offer of €8M was proposed by the interested clubs, but it is Sassuolo who look more serious in their pursuit than their Turin counterparts. Torino themselves lost star striker Andrea Belotti after his contact expired at the end of last season.

Laurienté registered 6 goals and 2 assists in 25 league games for Lorient in 2021/22.
