The tears of millions of supporters have flooded the beautiful streets of Naples as it was announced that the Napoli veteran Lorenzo Insigne will be departing Gli Azzurri at the end of the season to join the MLS side Toronto FC.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian international has agreed to join the Canadian side on a pre-contract deal, allowing him to depart the Serie A giants when his contract expires at the end of the current season. Furthermore, the Napoli captain will be earning a lucrative salary of €11.5M per-season until 2027.
Although many people across the world are questioning Toronto FC’s judgment in offering such an immense salary for the 30 year-old winger, there is no doubt that the Italian international will be a brilliant addition to the MLS side. Throughout his 12 year-run in Naples, Insigne has managed to score 114 goals in 414 appearances for the club. In addition, the Napoli captain has made 53 appearances for the Azzurri, playing a fundamental role in their Euro 2020 winning-campaign. There is no doubt that the Napoli veteran will trigger a flame within his new destination through his immense amount of pace on the flanks, his diminutive right foot, and his incredible eye for goal.
