Toronto Making Serious Attempt to Lure Lorenzo Insigne

Toronto are highly interested in adding Lorenzo Insigne next summer when he will be out of contract. The extension talks between the attacker and Napoli keep stalling. His agent Vicenzo Pisacane slammed president Aurelio De Laurentiis for how he handled the negotiation yesterday.

According to Sky Sport, the MLS side has placed an offer that would satisfy every contractual request of the forward. Toronto are trying to convince Insigne to move to the United States with his family. However, Inter and other European clubs are waiting in the wings as well.

The bid by the Canadian outfit is the first real one on the table coming from an outside team. The negotiation with Napoli continues to be very challenging. The latest proposal by the Partenopei was €3.5M salary plus €1.5M hard-to-achieve bonuses.

His agent reacted harshly: “Napoli offered half of what Insigne is making now. Everybody has to play their role, but the club needs to take a step toward its player and symbol. It is evident that they are treating him differently from others that signed extensions before him. Lorenzo was floored for what happened.”

The chairman had declared over the weekend: “In all my businesses, I have never forced anybody’s hand. I think it is important to leave them free to make their decisions. Everything will depend on the will of Insigne. We would welcome him with open arms if he wanted to finish his career with Napoli. Otherwise, we would get over his decision to move on.”
