Tottenham Could Make a Move for Juventus Defender in January

Tottenham could reportedly make a move for Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt during the January transfer window.

According to Calciomercato.it, the Premier League club are looking for a new defender following Cristian Romero’s injury which has sidelined him for a few months. They could try to sign De Ligt during the upcoming transfer window as Conte wants a replacement immediately.

The Dutchman has made 92 appearances across all competition for Juventus since his €75m move from Ajax. So far, De Ligt has scored six goals while providing two assists.

This season, the 22-year-old has featured in 17 matches across all competitions, scoring their winner against Spezia.

Romero’s injury is a massive blow for Spurs and there is every chance of them trying to sign defensive reinforcements in January. De Ligt would be a very good addition to their squad but the chances of Antonio Conte signing him do not seem very high because Juventus will demand a large sum for him.
