Tottenham Prefer Milan Star Midfielder over Inter Pair

Tottenham has been linked to a host of Serie A targets since former Juventus director Fabio Paratici and especially Antonio Conte took over. Despite the brevity of the contract of the coach, their project is long-term. They will keep an eye toward the future in their signings.

For such reason, Tottenham are keener on Franck Kessié than on Stefan De Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. He is also a more viable target considering that the Inter duo has strong chances to stay put. Instead, the Ivorian midfielder is on an expiring contract, and the extension talks with Milan have gone nowhere so far.

Kessié is 24 and would fit what Tottenham are looking for, the transfer market expert informs. However, the competition is fierce. PSG and other top European teams also chasing after him. Milan have yet to decide whether they will put him for sale in January. The move would allow them to salvage some money from his departure. They elected not to do that with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu last season. However, they ultimately could not come to terms with them as they hoped. Conte already eyed the midfielder in the past.

As for the Nerazzurri mainstays, who are both 29, Brozovic is in advanced talks to prolong his deal and the management is very confident. De Vrij is under contract club until 2023, but he has an agreement in place past that date. Still, Inter might decide to cash in on him for mere financial purposes. But Tottenham are not tracking him at the moment.
