Totti Talks Reunion with Roma, Spalletti, and Zaniolo

Francesco Totti was surprisingly complimentary toward his former coach Luciano Spalletti and discussed a few more Roma-related topics while chatting on Twitch channel BepiTv1 (via SportMediaset).

“I’d like to get in touch with him, and I’m sure it’ll happen. I had unflattering remarks in his regard. He changed my role, and we had a great relationship. I’m sorry for the way it ended. Nobody is capable in fielding a team like he does. I love his Napoli and their performances prove he’s still one of the best gaffers around.”

The legend said that his return to Roma isn’t imminent.

“It takes two to tango. There’s nothing going on. But I’m happy anyway. It’s important for them to have an important path, and we fans will follow. The Giallorossi come first for me, and I’ve always demonstrated it.”

Totti was quizzed about whether he’d like the no.10 to be withdrawn.

“It’s up to the team to decide. In my mind, it’s every kid’s dream to wear it, but I would walk back my stance if they went in that direction. As a supporter, I would have done it immediately. Instead, as a player, I hope somebody stronger than me will have it one day.”

The former attacker dished on Zaniolo after being asked what he lacked to lead the Giallorossi.

“The right mentality. I haven’t figured out his role yet. He should be a winger considering his strength. Paulo Dybala adjusted to his new surroundings like a champion. As for Cristiano Ronaldo, it seems a repetition of what happened to me. He doesn’t need my advice, but I know what it’s like to be cast aside after being at the top for years.”
