Paolo Maldini’s agent in the shadows – Geoffrey Moncada – has been touted to be the ‘007 of Maldini’ by Tuttosport (via MilanNews). The talent scout is one of the main protagonists in Milan’s hunt for world-class players and is said to be a ‘man of mystery’, according to the Turin newspaper.
As someone who works behind the scenes and is instrumental in the development of Rossoneri’s young roster, the Frenchman is not heard about enough.
He heads the scouting department as the chief scout, sifting through loads of data and analyzing interesting players that fit Stefano Pioli’s outfit, also involving himself in the signing of older names – such as Simon Kjaer from Sevilla (who was on loan at Milan, signing permanently later).
According to the report, his identification of some of the profiles are now important pillars of the Rossoneri team.
Many young players have arrived since Moncada took up the role in December 2018, such as Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao, Brahim Diaz, Alexis Saelemaekers, Fikayo Tomori and Ismael Bennacer.
