Two Juventus Newcomers Join Exclusive List of Players

Dusan Vlahovic and Denis Zakaria scored in their Juventus debut against Verona, but it is not a first in the history of the club as far as newcomers are concerned. They are the fourth pair to achieve such a feat simultaneously. However, it had never happened in the case of January additions.

As suggested by JuveNews, Omar Sivori and John Charles formed the first duo to do it. At the start of the 1957-1958 season, both legends hit the net against the Scaligeri as well. The former ranks fifth in the all-time list of scorers of the Bianconeri, the latter 12th.

More recently, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Arturo Vidal both found the target in their first Old Lady match. On September 11th, 2011, the Swiss fullback broke the deadlock versus Parma, while the Chilean midfielder rounded out the 4-1 win. The final pair of newcomers to deliver immediately after joining Juventus were Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala. They decided the 2015 Supercoppa Italiana against Lazio in Shanghai.

Cristiano Ronaldo did not manage to make the stat-sheet in his debut, differently from a few other elite center-forwards. Zlatan Ibrahimovic did it on September 12th, 2004 against Brescia, while Gonzalo Higuain on August 20th, 2016 versus Fiorentina. Vlahovic was the quickest out of the gate in the entire bunch. It took him just 13 minutes to beat Lorenzo Montipò Sunday. Sivori comes in second with 28 minutes. The other strikers hit the net in the second halves of their respective matches, Corriere dello Sport points out.
