Two Juventus Stars Left Out of Brest Friendly, Sales Looking Imminent

Juventus manager Thiago Motta has omitted star winger Federico Chiesa from his squad for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Brest. According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Bologna boss hasn’t called up Tiago Djalo either, suggesting the Portuguese defender could be on the move in the coming weeks.

Motta has deemed Chiesa surplus to requirements. With less than 12 months left to run on his contract at the Allianz Stadium, Juventus are keen to cash in on the 26-year-old this summer. Despite failing to receive concrete proposals for their wantaway ace, the Turin giants remain confident about offloading Chiesa by the end of August.

Chelsea had shown interest in Chiesa at the start of the summer. But after a catalog of summer signings, the Blues have vanished from the picture. Napoli could be the Juventus outcast’s landing spot, yet Antonio Conte’s side would only accelerate talks for the Italy international if the Bianconeri grant them a discount.

The player’s entourage, Fali Ramadani, flew to London to hold negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur. While waiting for the famous agent’s response from England, Juventus could cut loose another out-of-favor first-team star, with Djalo’s omission showing Motta’s ambition to get his wages off the books.

Despite joining Juventus last January, the 24-year-old could depart Turin after less than a year following an injury-plagued second half of the 2023/24 season. The duo’s potential departures may see the record-time Serie A champions revive their interest in Borussia Dortmund starlet Karim Adeyemi.

Juventus have reportedly called off their pursuit of the German forward.
