Two further promising youngsters are about to leave Serie A and head to the Premier League, as Mikkel Damsgaard is on the verge of joining Brentford, while Udinese and Tottenham are in advanced talks for Destiny Udogie. Though, the fullback will most likely spend another season in the Peninsula on loan.
The Dane was a hot commodity last summer coming off the Euro. Sampdoria managed to keep him, but knee arthritis completely derailed him last season. He featured in just 16 matches, failing to score. Now healthy, the Bees targeted him to replace Christian Eriksen. As per Tuttomercatoweb, they will pay €14M plus €6M add-ons.
While Damsgaard will move to the Premier League right away, Udogie is touted to sign with Tottenham and stay at Udinese for 2022/2023, Sky reports. The two clubs have an agreement in principle on a €20M fee plus €6M add-ons. The youngster was spared for the recent Coppa Italia match versus FeralpiSalò but should be available for the opener versus Milan.
The 19-year-old burst onto the scenes last year after moving from Verona to the Friulani. He quickly won the starting job on the left flank and put together a terrific campaign. He hit the net 5 times and provided 3 assists in 35 appearances. Inter, Juventus and Lazio had alternatively tracked him this summer.

It’s a pity in both cases, but the cash-strapped Serie A sides are becoming more and more averse to taking risks and can’t compete with these price tags for not totally established players. The reservations are more understandable in the attacker’s case, but the wing-back is a sure-fire prospect and would have surely been worth the investment.
