Two Rumored Milan and Roma Targets Find New Clubs

Milan and Roma laid eyes on Mats Wieffer and Sergio Gomez to bolster their midfield and left wing respectively, but they’ll have to shift their focus toward different players. Brighton are on the verge of acquiring the Dutchman, while the Manchester City outcast will transfer to Real Sociedad, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The Seagulls swooped in on him a few days ago and reached an agreement in principle on a €30M fee plus add-ons. The negotiation is in the later stages. The Rossoneri will have to focus on different options, for instance, Youssouf Fofana and Carney Chukwuemeka.

While Wieffer will transfer for a robust price tag that Milan probably couldn’t get to at this stage, Sergio Gomez will switch sides for an affordable figure, €9M, but Roma paid the price for the fact that the fullback wished to return in his home country. In addition, Manchester City will have a 15 percent resale clause and a buyback one.

The capital club has run into problems also for two more players, Enzo Le Fée and Alex Sorloth. Despite multiple offers, Rennes aren’t budging for the former, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. Instead, Villarreal demand €38M, the amount of the striker’s release clause.

Our Take on Milan, Roma, Wieffer, and Sorloth

The Rossoneri seem stuck in cement this summer. Perhaps they are waiting to sort their new no.9, and see how much of their budget they’ll have to use for that, before investing in other areas, or a significant sale. Roma have their own issues, but at least appear more proactive.
