Udinese and Everton Locked in Talks for Sought-After Striker Beto

Udinese and Everton have reportedly opened a dialogue over Norbert Beto’s big-money switch to the Premier League. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports the Toffees have tabled a €30 million bid for the towering striker, but the Italians want more to sanction a deal.

Beto has been a standout performer at Udinese since arriving from Portuguese outfit Portimonense on an initial loan in 2021. He earned a permanent contract the following summer after soaking up the limelight as the team’s driving force in the front third alongside injury-puzzled Gerard Deulofeu.

After dominating the headlines at the Dacia Arena over the past two years, Beto seems ready to embark on a new adventure away from Udinese. Napoli displayed an interest in the 25-year-old earlier in the summer. However, the Friulians quickly turned down the defending Serie A champions’ €25m approach.

Keen to extract at least €10m above Napoli’s proposal, Udinese won’t make any compromise in the Everton case. Despite agreeing personal terms with the Premier League strugglers, Beto’s future depends on the Toffees’ willingness to meet the Friulians’ request.

Everton can reach the magic number through various add-ons. But pressured by the time, they must come forward with a satisfying offer soon. It appears Udinese have already reconciled with losing their marquee striker. However, they want to milk every penny from his imminent departure.

Beto topped the club’s scoring charts last season. His mesmerizing impact at Udinese won’t be simple to replicate.
