Udinese and Venezia Execs Address Deals with Serie A Giants

Lazar Samardzic and Tanner Tessmann switched sides after long sagas in the summer, but neither joined the first teams that laid eyes on teams. Udinese director Gianluca Nani spilled the beans about the Serb to Tuttomercatoweb.

“It’s true that Milan had inquired, but we never started a real negotiation with them. Instead, Atalanta tabled the right bid. They were the team that wanted the player the most in the end.”

Samardzic joined La Dea on a season-long loan with a €20M obligation to buy plus €5M add-ons, while Tanner Tessmann left Italy to head to Ligue 1 for €6M after extensive talks with Fiorentina and especially Inter.

Venezia’s exec Filippo Antonelli talked to the same publication.

“I’m happy with the outcome for the team. There was some concern because he had an expiring contract. It’s true that he voiced his desire to leave, but he also had never sated that he would eventually depart on a free. We had sealed the deal with the Nerazzurri. La Viola was interested too, but the Scudetto winners were way ahead of them. It’s true that we bided time with his sale, but, in the end, we cashed in a good sum.”

Venezia are contemplating signing Simon Kjaer, who’s without a team after leaving Milan. Moreover, their official confirmed that they’d buy out Hans Nicolussi Caviglia at the end of the season. He only technically came in on loan from Juventus. The clause to make the deal permanent doesn’t hinge on their permanence in Serie A.
