Udinese to Target Out-of-Favor Roma Defender

14th placed Udinese have begun the season on a poor note, winning just two of their eleven matches so far, thus prompting the club to look for reinforcements – especially in defence.

According to reports from Albanian media (via TuttoUdinese), Roma centre-back Marash Kumbulla is among the players being targeted by the Friulani as he is way down Jose Mourinho’s defensive pecking order. The Albanian talent has experienced scarce playing time since moving from Hellas Verona on loan back in the summer transfer window of 2020.

He made 28 appearances for Roma across all competitions in 2020/21 but this campaign has seen him play just three matches so far, with all his appearances arriving in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Having fallen behind Roger Ibanez and Gianluca Mancini, as a third-choice defender, it is very well likely that Kumbulla might be staring towards the exit door at the Stadio Olimpico in January.

He to the Giallorossi moved from Hellas Verona for €26.5m and currently has a transfermarkt value of €22m. However, another loan is being touted for him – this time to Udinese.
