Under Utilized Milan Youngster Slated to Get a Shot

Rade Krunic will miss at least the next four games because of a thigh injury. He should be back right after the next international break. In the meantime, Yacine Adli and Tijjani Reijnders will replace him as the anchor of the midfield, Sky informs.

Stefano Pioli dished following the Verona game.

“They’ll both play since we have four matches in short order.”

The Rossoneri will take on Cagliari, Lazio, Borussia Dortmund, and Genoa next. Yunus Musah or Tommaso Pobega would complete the midfield. Reijnders has been starring as a box-to-box quite effectively so far.

Adli stayed put at Milan last summer despite his minuscule role in the previous campaign and some chatter about his departure, either permanent or more likely on loan. He has played just 6 times, for a total of 140 minutes, in 140 minutes in 2022/2023.

The Rossoneri paid €8.5M to sign the 23-year-old from Bordeaux in 2021, allowing him to spend another season in France.

Our Take on Milan, Adli, and Reijnders

Nobody has the pulse of the situation better than Pioli, but it’d be odd if the experiment panned out. The Frenchman was an even more offensive-minded player than the former AZ ace when he joined. While they’d miss the newcomer’s contribution in the final third, Musah can make up for it. He could turn out to be even more useful as a regista, as Hakan Calhanoglu is doing at Inter.
