Vasquez Details Milan Transfer, Sets Lofty Objectives

New Milan goalie Devis Vasquez recounted how the move to the Rossoneri came to be in an interview with Radio Caracol (via DAZN).

“My agent was in Italy and told me some teams were interested. They were Salernitana and Udinese. In the end, he informed there was nothing more to be done since Milan wanted me. It blindsided me and left me speechless.”

“I want to be one of best five goalies in history. I spoke with Paolo Maldini, and I know I have to earn the starting job. When I traveled to Italy, everybody was surprised by the fact that I already spoke the language. I like to play the ball with both feet. I talk a lot with my teammates, which is very important for a goalie. We have to help each other.”

Vasquez aims to become a regular for Colombia as well.

“I want to earn the starting job in my national team. It’s a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. I was called up for an upcoming friendly against the United States, but it’s not organized by FIFA so the club isn’t obliged to let me go. We’ll see what happens.”

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan continue searching for a goalie despite the recent signing. The Rossoneri inquired about Sergio Rico. While he’d be glad to join, PSG would like to part ways with Keylor Navas instead. The Spaniard would be the deputy at that point. The Scudetto champions remain in touch with Atalanta to onboard Marco Sportiello in January.
