Venezia coach Eusebio Di Francesco recalls his time at Roma and hails Roman fans ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Stadio Olimpico. The 55-year-old has stuttered at the beginning of his mandate at Stadio Pier Luigi Penso and will look to atone in the capital.

Di Francesco took charge of Venezia in the summer after failing to keep Frosinone in Serie A last term. His side experienced a false top-flight return, going winless in the opening four rounds. They got off the mark last weekend with a 2-0 home triumph against Genoa.

Venezia commence this matchday in the bottom three, nevertheless. As for Roma, they claimed their first league victory against Udinese last time out. Ivan Juric’s men desperately need another win against Venezia, yet Di Francesco is hellbent on stopping them in their tracks.

The former Roma boss is adamant his side’s only goal this season is to stay in Serie A.

Now, however, I must win over the Venezia fans,he said, as reported by TMW.First of all, we must do it together with my players, with the ultimate goal of staying in Serie A.

However, Di Francesco understands how hard it is to take points at the Olimpico. Before his two-year stint at Roma, he spent four years in the capital as a player and knows the atmosphere at this stadium can be unbearable for visiting sides.

I am very attached to the city, first of all, because this club is different from when I was there. However, Roman fans and Romanism are something unique, as they describe it, and it’s beautiful because you only realize it when you experience it,the former Roma coach stated.
