Vidal Openly Talks About Leaving Inter to Join Flamengo

Arturo Vidal fueled the rumors about his summer departure from Inter by showering Flamengo with praise in an interview: “I like them a lot, and I dream of playing there one day. I can not deny it. When it is the right time, I will join them. I hope it will happen soon. If their coach and front office were on the same page, I would do anything in my power to move there.”

The midfielder spoke with TNT Sports: “The European chapter of my career might be coming to an end. I do not know yet if it will occur immediately. However, my next objective is very clear. I want to win everything with Flamengo. I am looking forward to fighting for Copa Libertadores, which is as important as Champions League in Europe. If I went there, it would be to keep playing at a high level. They are a competitive team, the best in South America in my mind. Everybody wishes to join them.”

Vidal has a year left in his contract with Inter, but the club was already considering cutting him loose, allowing him to sign with Flamengo. The veteran also has clear post-retirement plans: “God willing, I will be the coach of the Chilean national team. I am learning the job. I like 4-3-3, and I have gained a lot of experience. Everything I went through with La Roja is driving me to become a gaffer and teach the players that the jersey represents the whole country.”
