Serie A icon Christian Vieri, who starred for Inter during his heyday, believes Mike Maignan is a ‘phenomenon’ in his own right. The Frenchman has seamlessly integrated as Milan’s numero uno, replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma between the sticks, despite being restricted to just 17 appearances this season.

During his Twitch show (via VoceGiallorossa), Vieri revealed his opinion of Maignan, who has been in stunning form since returning from injury.
“He’s a devastating phenomenon, when you’re at the stadium you think he’ll never concede a goal. €15M? He’s a champion worth €200M.”
Vieri thinks Maignan would have helped the Rossoneri grab a dozen points more if he hadn’t suffered from a calf injury.
“I put him on par with great champions. If he hadn’t been hurt, Milan would have had 10/12 points more.”

Several icons have praised the 27-year-old, including Italian legend Alessandro Nesta for the shot-stopper’s display against Tottenham Hotspur in the previous UEFA Champions League round. Maignan has kept a remarkable seven clean sheets in ten appearances since making a comeback to the first team following a lingering calf injury.
