Villarreal and Arsenal Defenders Too Pricey for Juventus

Juventus plan to bolster their defense with a lefty in one of the next two windows, and, while they are very interested in Pau Torres and Gabriel Magalhaes, their price tags are probably too hefty to have a real shot at landing them.

The Bianconeri tracked them both in the summer. However, they signed just one center-back, Gleison Bremer, to replace Matthijs De Ligt, while they didn’t substitute Giorgio Chiellini. As per Tuttomercatoweb, the Old Lady continue to keep tabs on the Arsenal star. However, he recently signed a new contract and is unlikely to leave. The strong performances of his team are also a factor.

It would likely take at least €50M for Juventus to sign either Gabriel or Pau Torres. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spaniard might be on his way out after the World Cup, as he wouldn’t mind joining a top club. Arsenal would be in the mix if they lost their top center-back. That doesn’t appear to be in the cards, at least in the short term.

PSG could emerge as a credible landing spot if Inter again frustrated their efforts to acquire Milan Skriniar, L’Equipe reports (via Foot01). The Ligue 1 giants would have less trouble than the Bianconeri in disbursing that kind of money.

Our Take Juventus Pursuing Gabriel and Pau Torres

They do need a left-footed defender, but the ship on those two names has probably sailed once they picked Bremer. Cheaper options like Evan Ndicka or Strahinja Pavlovic are more believable. While the Old Lady can never be counted out when it comes to making a splash in the transfer market, the next major investment they are plotting is probably Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
