Villarreal Contact Inter to Enquire De Vrij Availability

Inter defender Stefan De Vrij has unable to reach an agreement with the club for a contract extension so far, making an exit from the club likely with every passing day. His deal with the Nerazzurri is bound to expire in June 2023, and Inter have tabled a two-year extension for the Dutchman. However, there have been no developments yet in the saga.

As per DAZN (via Calciomercato), Spanish outfit Villarreal have enquired the Nerazzurri for De Vrij’s availability, looking to perhaps sign him in the coming summer transfer window. The La Liga side are eager to add an experienced defender to their roster, who can play alongside Pau Torres and Jorge Cuenca.

With less than six months left on his existing contract, De Vrij is now free to negotiate pre-contract terms with a club of his liking, handing Inter a disadvantage in the run to keep him at the club.

Premier League clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have also expressed their interest in the Dutch defender. Olympique de Marseille, who recently signed Ruslan Malinovskyi from Atalanta, are also eager to add De Vrij to the club.
