Villarreal coach Quique Setien believes Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli is capable enough of ousting their Scudetto rivals and winning the Serie A title by the end of the season. The Yellow Submarine meet the Partenopei in a club friendly match tomorrow evening, and Setien is looking forward to it.
Speaking to the microphones of Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via TuttoNapoli), the ex-Barcelona manager previewed the tasty friendly encounter.
“It is always nice to go back to the stadiums that have a great tradition and history, not only for Maradona but also because Napoli is of great historical importance.”
Setien thinks Napoli will end up lifting their first Serie A title in 33 years, having last won the Scudetto in 1989/90 backed by the great Maradona.
“I like them very much. They has a way of playing that is very similar with what we try to do, I have been at Villarreal for a short time. I think Napoli has the chance to win (the Scudetto) because Spalletti has created a positive environment, the players on the pitch have fun. I admire Spalletti’s game: his Napoli will win the championship.”
The match between Villarreal and Napoli will serve as a return to former playing grounds for Raul Albiol and Pepe Reina.
“We know their experiences in Italian football but also in general in their football careers. They are both very happy to return to Naples, to play a good game because they have great memories.”
