Genoa boss Alexander Blessin sat down with the press on Friday and discussed the upcoming match with Roma. In the press talk, he also referred to his first match on the Grifone bench with Udinese that ended in a 0-0 tie.
Blessin said: “We want to play against Roma with the same determination, liveliness and mentality seen with Udinese. We obviously know that the team we will face is great, but we will try to play our game and make some points. We would like to have our opponents think that Genoa are not soft, that they will try to hurt them and be annoying.”
About the tactical setup that Genoa will use:
“The value of Roma is indisputable. The way they play is incredible, especially when they start the counter attack and they take advantage of the speed of their players. If we look at their game, we can see how they play and what we must avoid making. We want to disturb them and play on their weak spots when they will be in trouble. For this reason, we will try to do our best to try to be at their level.”
Genoa will play Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday at 3.00 PM. The Grifone currently sit second-to-last in the Serie A table with 13 points out of 23 games. Belgian coach Alexander Blessin just replaced Andriy Shevchenko on Genoa’s bench. He is the third managed the Rossoblu employ this season, following the Ukrainian’s and Davide Ballardini’s unsuccessful stints.
