When Juventus Ignored Sarri’s Advice to Sign Napoli Hotshot

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could have very well been playing for Juventus, instead of Napoli. Confounding reports from Il Messaggero (via SportMediaset) indicate that the young playmaker was put forward to the Bianconeri management three years ago by now Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri, but no action was taken on the ex-Juve manager’s request.

It is reported that the Juventus recruitment team and management completely ignored Sarri’s advice to sign the fiery attacker.

Kvaratskhelia was trailed by a host of top clubs before he moved to the south of Italy, including Milan, Roma and Real Sociedad. However, Napoli acted quicker than their counterparts, mainly desperate to replace outbound Lorenzo Insigne.

The Georgian has been absolutely instrumental for the Partenopei so far this season, propelling them to first position in the league table, thanks to his five goals and two assists. He has 7 goals and assists each in his 13 appearances across Serie A and the UEFA Champions League, most recently putting up a terrific performance away at Ajax, and also at home, where he bagged a goal and an assist in a 4-2 victory.

Napoli have entered the UCL Round of 16 with two rounds left to spare and sit atop the Serie A standings, eager to capture their first Scudetto since the days of Diego Armando Maradona.
