World Cup Winner Hummels Finds New Suitor in Italy

Borussia Dortmund hero Mats Hummels parted with the club at the end of last month, and has surprisingly caught the attention of several Italian teams. Inter, Roma, Napoli, Milan and newly-promoted Como have all been linked to the World Cup winner, with Bologna the latest club in the mix.

As per latest reports from Sky Italia, the Rossoblù are seeking for defenders to replace the outgoing Riccardo Calafiori, who has long been touted to move to Arsenal. Although the Italian’s departure is not yet official, but practically certain, Hummels is a realistic prospect for Bologna to onboard.

Bundesliga icon Hummels was released by Dortmund at the end of last season following his side’s UCL final defeat to Real Madrid. He is expected to bring a wealth of experience regardless of his next destination and Bologna now have a shot at one of Europe’s most consistent stoppers.

Bologna will appear in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history the next season. They have already lost Joshua Zirkzee to Manchester United, but have been active in the transfer market, scouring for transfer targets, particularly from Ligue 1.

Nice’s Evann Guessand, and Toulouse duo Thjs Dallinga and defender Logan Costa have also been tracked by the Rossoblù.
