Zaniolo Candid About Transfer Plans, Lauds Douglas Luiz

Nicolò Zaniolo is eager to return to Serie A, as Atalanta and Fiorentina are battling it out to capture him from Galatasaray. He gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I told it to my agent Claudio Vigorelli. The team knows it too. I want to go back to Italy. I think we’ll be able to find a solution. I’m optimistic.”

Zaniolo missed Euro 2024 due to a foot fracture.

“It hurts because I would have been there with the Azzurri in Germany if it wasn’t for the injury. I’m cheering them on from home.”

Zaniolo heaped praise on his former teammate Douglas Luiz, who’s about to transfer to Juventus.

“I’ll send him a text when it’s official. We had a nice rapport in Birmingham. It’s a coup as he’s a top player. He’s a complete midfielder. He starred in a two-man line or as a box-to-box at Aston Villa. However, he has so much quality that he can feature as no.10 as well. His numbers tell the whole story.”

“He can score an assist, but he also runs, recovers the ball, and attacks the box. Mainly, he orchestrates the play and dictates the tempo. He’s worth every penny the Bianconeri will invest in him, and I’m sure he will help them a lot. He’ll do well in Serie A too since he shined in the Premier League. He already earned a spot in Brazil and is still young. He’ll be able to improve further in Italy. He’s a nice person and leader.”
