Zaniolo Commits to Roma and Vows to Be Ready for Euro 2021

Nicolò Zaniolo discussed his injuries, the departure from Inter and his future in an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport. He stated about the two ACL tears: “The first one was completely unexpected, I was shocked when it happened, it was a major blow because I was in great shape, but then I learnt that injuries are part of the game. The second one was terrible, I cried in bed for a week, without talking to anybody and eating very little.”

On leaving Inter in 2018: “They needed players that were ready and I was not at that time, but I thank them because they sold me to a nice club like Roma. Playing in this city and in front of these fans is fantastic.”

About his bad boy rep: “I have made some mistakes, but it was just tardiness to the practices. They are not severe issues, but they must be avoided. I see that I messed things up, both Luigi Di Biagio and Gianluca Mancini got mad in those instances. I know now how I have to behave, I have improved.”

On his return: “I think in April at the latest, surely in time for the European Championship. It has always been my goal to be present in that tournament, but I will not rush the process. I will resume playing only once both legs will have the same strength.”

On his future: “I feel great at Roma, I am part of a great squad and of an important team. There is no reason for me to leave.”
