Nicolò Zaniolo could be on the move again eight months after joining Galatasaray, as Aston Villa and Zenit are after him. There’s a €35M release clause in his contract.
Per Fabrizio Romano, new director Monchi strongly wants the player. He brought him to Roma back in the day. They acquired him from Inter as a makeweight in a deal involving Radja Nainggolan.
Zaniolo has been attached to a few Serie A sides this summer, but they are unlikely to come into the picture should Aston Villa or Zenit lodge substantial bids. The Russian side could splurge as they sold Malcom to Al-Hilal for €60M.
The attacker had the opportunity to join Bournemouth in January but hesitated too long, and they signed somebody else instead. He transferred to Turkey a few days after deadline day. He has logged 5 goals in 12 appearances so far.
.@GalatasaraySK have held talks with @fczenit_en regarding Nicolò #Zaniolo, but no agreement was reached. Now @AVFCOfficial are pushing – #AVFC want to understand if a deal can be done on loan + option. @SkySport

Our Take on Zaniolo, Aston Villa, and Zenit
The Italian club that could have signed him was Milan, which made multiple additions on the flanks, but they preferred different options. The English destination shouldn’t be an issue this time around, but he didn’t seem in a hurry to leave in his latest remarks. Instead, going to Russia is more problematic nowadays. The transfer might also hinge on whether Galatasaray qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.
