Zenit Interested in Signing Atalanta Attacker on a Swap Deal

Zenit are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta player Aleksey Miranchuk on a swap deal.

According to Russian newspaper Sport Express (via Calciomercato), the team from Saint Petersburg want to rope in the 26-year-old in January and are willing to offer Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun in exchange. Executives from both clubs have met regarding this deal.

Miranchuk has made only eight appearances for Atalanta this season so far, providing an assist against Villarreal. The Russian has made only two starts for La Dea so far and there is a very good chance that he will not make too many as the season progresses.

A move away from Atalanta might do well for Miranchuk as far as game time is concerned. He would receive a lot more minutes at Zenit provided the swap deal takes place.

Azmoun has been in pretty good form for the Russian side this season, amassing nine goals and four assists in 18 appearances across all competitions so far. The Iranian would add depth to Atalanta’s attack but it would not be easy for him to be a regular starter for them.
