Piotr Zielinski took stock of his future, considering that his Napoli contract runs out at the end of the season, and revisited what happened last summer from Poland. He was quizzed about it by TVP Sport (via Il Mattino).
“The negotiations are ongoing. As I already said, my agent handles them. I surely don’t rule out a renewal. Everybody will be informed in due time. I’m focused on doing the best I can with the Azzurri, as always.”
Zielinski confirmed to have received a large bid from Saudi Arabia in the previous window.
“It’s true that I could have moved there, but I chose to accomplish something more here in Europe, for instance playing in the Champions League. I decided that it wasn’t time to chase after money yet. I’m not complaining: it’s not everything. Maybe if there’ll be another advantageous offer in the future, I’ll take it, but it was better for me to continue my career in Europe for now.”
Zielinski is reportedly on the radar of Inter and Juventus ahead of a potential Bosman move, but Napoli remain optimistic he’ll eventually re-up. There hasn’t been much progress on such a front lately, though. The Scudetto holders reportedly want the Pole to reduce his yearly wages, as they usually ask their veterans. He has appeared in every game thus far, scoring three goals and assisting twice.
