Zielinski Says He Wants to Stay at Napoli amid Chatter

Piotr Zielinski dished on the title, which is getting closer each matchday, and his future speaking to SportMediaset after starring in a Euro qualifier with Poland.

“We have clear goals, and we want to achieve them by winning as many games as possible. The word Scudetto never scared us. We have always had a strong team, and we are doing incredible things, but the season is still long. We have to continue as we have been doing because there are a lot of points up for grabs. We won’t be afraid in Champions League either. We have a quality and mature squad, and we’ll do great things.”

Zielinski was quizzed about whether Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia should be in the running for the Balloon d’Or considering their superb campaigns.

“They are two great players, and they have given us a lot. I’d be thrilled if they won it one day, but I think about the team first.”

The midfielder has been linked to a possible departure, with his former coach Maurizio Sarri waiting in the wings since his contract is up in 2024, and the extension talks haven’t advanced. He’s not sweating the situation, though.

“I’m great here in Naples. I’ve felt at home since I first joined. I want to continue with this team. There’s a year and a half before the expiration date; therefore, we aren’t in a hurry.”

Despite a dip in his production in the last couple of months, Zielinski is having another great season, as he has hit the net 7 times and provided 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
