Zielinski Talks Argentina and France Clashes and Napoli

Piotr Zielinski continued his streak of success in Qatar after a marvelous first half of the season with Napoli. The midfielder discussed the World Cup and his side in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. He started by addressing the recent clash with Argentina.

“Maybe we had issues because we were facing one of the favorites in a key game for the qualification. It’s complicated to contain Lionel Messi. He’s a genius and makes everything looks easy. Surely, we can’t have the same attitude versus France. We’ll need to be more courageous. But we have to savor this moment too. During the game, they were yelling at us not to concede or be booked from the bench. It’s easier said than done.”

Poland have another challenging game on the docket.

“We’ll go from Messi to Kylian Mbappé, but also Theo Hernandez. We have to prepare the game well, maybe changing the scheme. They are the reigning champions, but anything can happen in a single elimination game, as long as everybody fares better. Wojciech Szczesny deserves this recognition. He’s helping us with incredible saves. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world.”

Zielinski weighed in on Napoli.

“It’s different because, as far as Poland in concerned, we haven’t been able to play as well as we could. It’s the opposite for the club. We control the ball and have many solutions to shoot and several top-notch players. The national team has quality too, but we haven’t fully shown it yet. We hope it happens against France. We did excellent things before the break and we hope to pick up where we left off. We have very difficult matches coming up. We can write history.”
