Zlatan Ibrahimovic Wants Milan to Extend His Contract

Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring yesterday versus Genoa with a cunning free-kick from distance. Despite being 40, the striker intends to keep going and suggested the club prolong his contract.

Ibrahimovic hinted at it while discussing the new deal of coach Stefano Pioli to Sky Sport: “If he extended it, then I should too. He deserves it because he did a great job and must continue like this. Scudetto? I am happy that the fans mention it and I hope we can give them this satisfaction this year. You have to win trophies; otherwise, nothing else matters.”

Since Olivier Giroud is on the mend, Ibrahimovic played two matches in a row on short rest for the first time in the season: “I am enjoying myself. It was planned for me to start today, and I gave everything I had. The coach told me to put pressure on the goalkeeper, and I did. These kids keep me young and make me have fun. We made some costly mistakes in the previous two games. The opponents did not outplay us. The season is still long. There are some peaks and valleys during the course of it. But we won today, and we are back.”

It was previously reported that Milan are open to keeping Ibrahimovic for another season. However, it will hinge on whether the center-forward will hold up from the physical standpoint. The Swedish international missed time in the early going but has not had issues in the past two months.
