Inzaghi Rebuffs Recent Advances from Manchester United

Manchester United are interested in Simone Inzaghi should they pull the plug on Erik Ten Hag amid a slow start, but the Italian coach has no intention of leaving Inter. He extended his deal until 2026, although he wouldn’t have minded a longer one.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Tribuna), the Red Devils courted him twice, near the end of last season, before he put pen to paper, and again during the September break. He has rejected them on both occasions.

Inzaghi believes to have unfinished business at Inter. A move to the Premier League will have to wait. Manchester United weren’t the only side keen on him, as Chelsea contacted him before zeroing in on Enzo Maresca.

The Nerazzurri coach didn’t want to leave, so nothing came from it. He has often voiced his desire to have a long cycle and aim to take home the Champions League in Milan after coming close in 2023.

The manager has been at San Siro since the summer of 2021. He has recorded 109 wins, 31 draws, and 27 losses. He finished second and third before leading the team to the historic 20th Scudetto last year.

Our Take on Inzaghi and Manchester United

He’ll probably end up in England at some point in the next few years, he’s very young after all, but it won’t happen mid-season and, given the stability he’s enjoyed at Inter despite some economic turbulences, it’d be surprising if he opted to go to sides that are in constant turmoil.
