Federico Chiesa’s future at Juventus remains one of the most discussed topics in Serie A going into the January transfer window. The Italy international has come a long way from almost cutting ties with the Turin outfit in the summer to becoming Massimiliano Allegri’s standout performer in 2023/24.
Chiesa’s current deal at Juventus expires in 2025. After failing to cash in on the former Fiorentina winger in the last transfer window, Allegri has made the 26-year-old the most influential figure at the Allianz Stadium this season. Following a decadent three-year stint, the record-time Serie A champions are back in the Scudetto frame, with Chiesa leading the charge.
With four goals and one assist, the versatile forward is the club’s joint-most prolific player this season. But despite his return to form, Chiesa has yet to pledge his long-term future to Juventus, practically handing an invite to Europe’s big guns to start asking questions about his availability, as was the case a few months ago.
Juventus seem to have recognized the urgency of the situation. According to Tuttojuve, the Italian heavyweights are ready to trigger a one-year extension option in Chiesa’s current contract to buy more time to negotiate an outright renewal.
Given the player’s significance to the club’s long-term project, it’s no wonder tying him down to a new deal is a priority. Juventus have shown clear ambition to extend Chiesa’s contract, meaning the ball is now in the winger’s court.
