Former UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has revealed an astonishing detail regarding Ronaldo’s departure from Juventus close to the transfer deadline day. The Russian fighter is a close friend of Cristiano and the duo occasionally stay in touch via text.

Speaking to Sport24 (via MARCA) in an exclusive interview, the UFC fighter said: “I wouldn’t like to reveal our private chat. Well, he told me that he was bored in Italy and that he would like to move to England.”

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United twelve years after leaving the club, having amassed 101 goals in 134 appearances for the Bianconeri in the past three years.

The Portuguese sensation was also compared with Argentine legend Lionel Messi by Khabib and he was overly confident of Ronaldo’s presence at the top of his game for an extended period of time.

“Cristiano has been at the top for 17 years. In 2004 he was in the final of the European Championship, and now it’s 2021 and he’s still scoring. There’s never been a phenomenon like that in football. I think Messi’s been at his peak for about 12 years, and Cristiano 17,” he said.

Ronaldo is bound to make his second debut for the Red Devils in front of a packed Old Trafford audience on September 11 against Newcastle United.
