Legendary English tactician Roy Hodgson’s managerial legacy spanning six decades took him through Inter, in two different spells post the mid-90’s. The former Nerazzurri manager coached the club from 1995 to 1997, followed by a brief three-month spell in the first half of 1999.
In an exclusive interview with Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, the former England manager shed light on the importance of his time spent at the Giuseppe Meazza.
He said: “A very important place. For the people I met, starting with president Moratti and Giacinto Facchetti, and then for the fans. It was an intense experience both humanly and professionally, from which I learned a lot.”
The former manager, who recently left his job at Crystal Palace in May, began his coaching career in Sweden in 1976. It was followed by spells at many different Scandinavian clubs such as Malmo, Copenhagen, Orebro, Viking Stravanger, among others.
He continued, regarding his journey at Inter: “I had been coming for many years between Scandinavia and Switzerland and it was a decisive step forward for me, in all respects, even that of “football craziness”. I have always appreciated the opportunity that was given to me at Inter and I tried to show it in every match during those two years.”
Hodgson managed no less than 1,213 games throughout his six-decade long career, ending his career most recently after spending four years at Crystal Palace.
