Milan and Stefano Pioli on the Same Page About the Future

Stefano Pioli waxed poetic on Milan and is ready to commit long-term. On top of commenting on the Derby, the coach stated in an interview yesterday: “My position goes beyond my contract. I feel good here, I have a great relationship with the executives, and we work in unison.”

The coach added to Radio Anch’Io Lo Sport: “I would stay here forever, then I know football is filled with unforeseen events and different dynamics, but that would be my stance now.” He is currently under contract until 2023.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan share the sentiment and believe Pioli could open a winning cycle. The expectation is that the parties will discuss a new deal at the end of the season. The gaffer joined almost as caretaker manager when Marco Giampaolo was fired in October 2019. However, he quickly won over everybody within the club.

The Elliott fund that owns the team highly appreciates his handling of the group. Moreover, he has a great bond with directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. He is very tight with the players as well, who often chant his name. He will soon enter the top ten of coaches with the most matches in the history of the Rossoneri.

Milan and Pioli are eager to lift their first trophy together. They are putting great emphasis on the Coppa Italia, where they will face Lazio Wednesday. They just re-opened the title race with a comeback win against Inter, cutting into the crosstown rivals’ lead in the standings.
