Dortmund and Ligue 1 Clubs Scout Roma Midfield Prodigy

20-year-old Polish prodigy Nicola Zalewski, who enjoyed his breakthrough campaign under Jose Mourinho’s tutelage last season, is expected to receive a stream of transfer offers from foreign clubs – from Germany and France – this summer window.

The youngster appeared interruptedly throughout the latter half of Roma’s season, displaying his worth time and again with instrumental performances.

La Gazzetta dello Sport relays information of German top dog Borussia Dortmund heavily interested in the Polish prospect. Die Borussen are joined by unnamed Ligue 1 clubs in the transfer race. No club has contacted Roma regarding the talent’s availability yet, but that could change soon.

Nonetheless, the Giallorossi are totally uninterested in hearing out any offers for the 20-year-old winger, as he is highly valued by manager Mourinho and sporting director Tiago Pinto. The duo want to see him grow and develop in the first team’s ranks next season.

Born and raised in Italy to Polish parents, the Poland international made his professional debut for Roma in May 2021 in the Europa League semi-final against Manchester United, as he made his mark that very match by forcing Alex Telles to score an own goal in the second leg. Despite the Giallorossi losing the tie on aggregate, Zalewski was praised for his cameo debut performance.

His contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires in the summer of 2025.
